The real (and shocking) story of Kevin O'Leary's business career

Buried in the back pages of the financial press last October was a story about the sale of his mutual fund company, O鈥橪eary Funds, to Canoe Financial, an investment firm run by former Dragons鈥 Den cast member and entrepreneur Brett Wilson.

...Henry Mintzberg, the Cleghorn professor of management studies at 平特五不中, believes O鈥橪eary鈥檚 depiction of a business leader is pejorative. 鈥淧itbull (executives) don鈥檛 add anything at all,鈥 he said in an interview with this reporter back in 2012. Mintzberg said in the US there鈥檚 been the emergence of the 鈥渃ult of heroic leadership鈥 within corporations. 鈥淭he tendency there鈥 is to attribute any success of the company to one person,鈥 he remarked. But Mintzberg said companies function best when CEO鈥檚 recognize that companies are collaborative efforts and they show flexibility and emotional health. O鈥橪eary, on the other hand, 鈥渋s obviously an arch narcissist,鈥 noted Mintzberg. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know how he manages his companies, but his stereotype is dysfunctional.鈥
