Professor Augustin receives Bank of Canada Governor鈥檚 Award

Congratulations to Patrick Augustin,聽Associate Professor of Finance, who received聽the Bank of Canada Governor鈥檚 Award.

The Bank of Canada Governor鈥檚 Award is designed to encourage and foster research excellence and recognizes outstanding academics for their expertise and research in areas important to the Bank's core functions. It promotes collaboration and partnerships between Bank researchers and leading academics at Canadian post-secondary institutions. It also contributes to education and development of Canada鈥檚 researchers, advancing knowledge in the fields related to the Bank鈥檚 primary responsibilities. As the nation's central bank, the Bank of Canada鈥檚 principal role is "to promote the economic and financial welfare of Canada," as defined in the Bank of Canada Act.

Professor Augustin is an internationally recognized expert in international finance who studies questions at the intersection of macroeconomics and finance, with a particular focus on sovereign credit risk, asset pricing and credit derivatives. His research also extends to matters of financial law, and his work on insider trading has drawn international attention with coverage in the global financial and political press. Professor Augustin has worked in the private sector as a structured credit officer and in the public sector as an attach茅 to Luxembourg鈥檚 Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds the Canada Research Chair in Macrofinance and Derivatives, is an Associate Fellow at the Canadian Derivatives Institute and served as a Fellow at the Global Future Councils of the World Economic Forum.
