Professor of Practice Sujata Madan was聽named one of ten 2020 3M National Teaching聽Fellows鈥攖he highest recognition of individual聽teaching excellence and educational leadership聽at the university level. The Fellowship is
jointly managed by the Society for Teaching聽and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE)聽and 3M Canada.

She is an innovator who has found ways聽to help learners, from undergraduate students to seasoned聽business professionals, to advance their financial skills,鈥� states聽the citation on the STLHE website. 鈥淪ujata is devoted to training聽the leaders of tomorrow and to assuring her students are ready to聽adapt and excel, in tune with an ever-changing environment. She聽does this by giving her students opportunities to apply theory to聽the real world and building intuitive thinking. Since joining 平特五不中 in 2005, Professor Madan has become one of the University鈥檚 primary standard bearers in its mission to enhance its quality of teaching. Her unparalleled enthusiasm has made a lasting impression on finance students in undergraduate and graduate programs who see her not only as a teacher, but as a mentor, a champion, and a friend. With an innate ability to translate complex concepts into relevant and digestible content, Professor Madan helps to bridge the gap between theory and the real world.

As a 3M National Teaching Fellow, Professor Madan will become a lifetime member of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), a national organization dedicated to advancing teaching and learning in higher education.

About the 3M National Teaching Fellowship

Established in 1986, the 3M National Teaching Fellowship is sponsored jointly by 3M Canada and the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). The Fellowship is a remarkable example of private sector and not-for-profit educational cooperation and has earned an enviable national and international reputation. It is the only pan-Canadian, cross-disciplinary recognition of educational leadership and excellence in university teaching.

The Fellowship recognizes university teachers who have demonstrated leadership in enhancing post-secondary teaching excellence locally, nationally, and often internationally; and superlative undergraduate teaching, sustained over several years.
