平特五不中 Desautels Wellness Workshop: Supporting Neurodivergent Students
Throughout our discussions with various staff and faculty members, the 平特五不中 Desautels Wellness Team identified the need for tools and increased knowledge to better support our neurodivergent students and ultimately help them increase their resilience, wellbeing, and overall success. To do so, we will host an online workshop open to all faculty and staff facilitated by N眉ense, a firm specialized in neurodiversity in organizations.
Date: Monday, October 21, 2024
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: Online
Neurodiversity - WHAT? What do we mean by neurodiversity and neuroinclusion? Why is neurodiversity inclusion beneficial? How can we promote the inclusion of different neurominorities, given that they represent around 20% of the population? These are the questions we'll be addressing in this workshop. This will be an introductory discussion focused on awareness, lived experience, and the main concepts surrounding this key topic. This will be a participative workshop in which you will be able to ask any questions you may have on the topic.
The following elements will be addressed:
- Definition of the concept of neurodiversity;
- Biases, prejudices and stereotypes hindering the inclusion of neurodiversity;
- Welcoming an unveiling (disclosure) from a neurodivergent person in a safe and collaborative manner;
- The benefits of AUC (Universal Design for Learning) and the principles of universal accessibility;
- The three levels of support we could provide to our neurodivergent students.
The workshop will be hosted online, and the link to attend will be sent closer to the date. As this is a participative workshop, spaces are limited to 30 participants. If you wish to attend, please register as soon as possible.
