Grant Success for Graduate Researchers

Faculty lecturer Dr. Madathil and postdoctoral fellow Dr. Lévesque receive FRQS awards

Faculty lecturer Dr. Sreenath Arekunnath Madathil and postdoctoral fellow Dr. Martine Lévesque have both received postdoctoral awards from the FRQS (Fonds de recherche: Santé). Dr. Madathil is also the recipient of a postdoctoral award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). In addition, Dentistry graduate and current PhD student in Experimental Medicine has received a doctoral award from the FRQS.

Dr. Madathil's research project,Ìý"Facteurs de risque professionnels pour le cancer de la prostate: identification par une approche prédictive bayésienne et considération des erreurs de mesure," on which he will work in affiliationÌýwith the.

Dr. Lévesque's research project is entitled, "La participation citoyenne, occupation et déterminant de santé: apprendre des communautés cries engagées dans une démarche de planification en santé," and is affiliated with the (CBHSSJB).

Lina Abu-Nada is also the recipient of a doctoral award from the FRQS, which will fund her research project entitled, "La jeune moelle osseuse peut-elle renverser le vieillissement?"Ìý

After attaining his BDS from India, Dr. Sreenath was associated with HeNCe life study – International multi-centre study on life course of etiologies of oral cancer, as research assistant. He was also involved with more than 11 clinical trials as co-investigator and research assistant at Dr. Rupali’s dental research center, Calicut. During his masters program Sreenath's worked on intergenerational transmission of paan chewing among Indian families and dose-response relationship between paan chewing and oral cancer.

As a trained occupational therapist with an interest in access-to-care for people with disabilities, Dr. Martine LévesqueÌýhasÌýmoved towards research focused more specifically on access to oral healthcare for a population facing broad social and structural barriers, that is the population of people living in poverty and receiving social assistance.

Lina Abu-NadaÌýis a graduate from the Faculty of Dentistry, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Experimental Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.
