My research focuses on the prevention and management of blood vessel disease in people with diabetes or who are at risk for diabetes. I am leading a clinical trial comparing the effects of prescribing step count targets (by physicians) in adults with diabetes or hypertension to look at effects on blood vessle stiffness. I am leading a study to develop and test a meal preparation-eating and activity education program to reduce diabetes risk in ladies who have had diabetes in pregnancy. I am also leading a study to see if the partners of women who have had diabetes in pregnancy are also at higher risk for diabetes. Finally, I am leading a study looking at how the degree of walkability of a neighbourhood is related to how much people with diabetes actually walk.
