Those are among the symptoms of Spinocerebellar ataxia type 6, known as SCA6, a rare neurodegenerative disease which typically appears in adulthood and worsens over time. Over time, other problems such as slurred speech and difficulty seeing or seeing double, may also appear. It is estimated that fewer than 5,000 people in the US have the condition, which is the result of genetic mutations in the cerebellum.
Fri, 05 Apr 2024 16:13:27 +0000 webfull 199221 at /channels Organelles Without Borders: How Liquid Droplets Organize the Cell /channels/channels/event/organelles-without-borders-how-liquid-droplets-organize-cell-339950
We welcome you to another IN-PERSON and online public lecture!
Fri, 17 Jun 2022 17:40:37 +0000 webfull 180580 at /channels New technique nets scientists haul of key proteins /channels/channels/news/new-technique-nets-scientists-haul-key-proteins-303862
Using a new microscopic "fishing" technique, scientists from the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM), Universit茅 de Montr茅al and 平特五不中 have successfully snagged thousands of proteins that play a key role in the formation of the cell skeletons or cytoskeletons. Cell skeletons, whose primary function is to give the cells their shapes, are also involved in things like muscle contraction. They are made up of an interlocking network of protein filaments that connect the cell nucleus to the cell membrane.
Thu, 09 Jan 2020 17:37:15 +0000 webfull 157111 at /channels Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month /channels/news/multiple-sclerosis-awareness-month-250842 Mon, 11 May 2015 18:09:58 +0000 webfull 109973 at /channels
