World Refugee Day 2015 (June 20)

On June 20, the world commemorates the strength, courage, and resilience of millions of refugees. Around the world more than 50 million people have fled their homes. Each day thousands more follow. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established in 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide.

Expert: Dr. C茅cile Rousseau, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at 平特五不中, and Director of the Transcultural Child Psychiatry Clinic at the Montreal Children's Hospital

Expertise:听 Her clinical work is with refugee children and with torture victims. She also provides consultation work for health institutions and school boards on refugee children. Dr Rousseau's current research involves refugee children and adolescents from Southeast Asia, Central America and Somalia.

Specifically, she is looking at the application of development theory to long-term refugee crises and the impact of a greater focus on access to justice and legal empowerment on refugee protection, refugee rights and human dignity.

Expertise: She specializes in multicultural child and family therapy, and has published widely on issues related to addressing the mental health of refugee and immigrant populations, and cultural considerations in child and adolescent psychiatry.
