Stoffman, Lafourcade named ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ athletes of week

MONTREAL – Track and field athletes Zaria Stoffman of Vancouver,
B.C., and Lucas Lafourcade, a native of Bordeaux, France, are the
ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ athletes of the week for the period ending Dec.
14, 2008.
Stoffman, a third-year philosophy major, captured a pair of events
at the Montreal Open track and field indoor meet hosted by ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ
last Saturday. The 5-foot-10 hurdler and jump specialist finished
first in the women’s 60m hurdles (9.21 seconds) and won the high
jump with a height of 1.60m.
She enrolled at ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ in 2006 after graduating from Point Grey
secondary school in Vancouver.
Lafourcade, an 18-year-old freshman in international development
studies, won the men’s 60m hurdles, clearing a height of 9.26m. He
also finished third in the shot put, with a toss of 9.67m.
