Schulich School of Music Composition alumni and students awarded numerous prizes in the 2014 SOCAN Foundations Awards to Young Composers.

With a total of seven prizes at the SOCAN Foundations Awards to Young Composers, the Schulich School of Music Composition Area has performed remarkably. 聽Four out five of the 2014 SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers have been awarded to current or former Schulich Students, and prize winners in the Sir Ernest MacMillan awards Category consist exclusively of former Schulich Students. Congratulations to all recipients and their respective professors. 聽

Sir Ernest MacMillan Awards:
First Prize - James O'Callaghan (MMus 2014; studied with Philippe Leroux)
Second Prize -Matthew Ricketts (BMus 2009; studied with Brian Cherney, Chris Paul Harman, John Rea) tied with Luke Nickel (MMus 2013; studied with Chris Paul Harman)
Third Prize - Alec Hall (BMus 2007; studied with Denys Bouliane and Christoph Neidhofer)

Serge Garant Awards:
First Prize - Eliot Britton (PhD; studies with Sean Ferguson)
Second Prize - Stephen Spencer (BMus 2012; studied with Chris Paul Harman and Philippe Leroux, MMus; studies with Brian Cherney)

Pierre Mercure Awards:
First Prize (shared) - Thierry Tidrow (BMus 2009; studied with Christoph Neidhofer and Brian Cherney)
Third Prize - Taylor Brook (BMus 2007; studied with Ana Sokolovic and Brian Cherney, MMus 2010; studied with Brian Cherney)

Godfrey Ridout Awards:
First Prize - Luke Nickel (MMus 2013; studied with Chris Paul Harman)
