Post-doctoral student Alex Lefebvre publishes The Image of Law: Deleuze, Bergson, Spinoza

Published: 18 September 2008

Alex Lefebvre has just published a book titled The Image of Law: Deleuze, Bergson, Spinoza (Stanford University Press), in which he challenges the truism that judges must apply and not create law.

Alex is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow currently doing research in collaboration with Canada Research Chair in Law and Discourse Desmond Manderson.

Alex's current project, tentatively titled "Law and the Ordinary", develops themes from the jurisprudence of the philosopher H. L. A. Hart (excuses and responsibility, rule following and the open texture of law, morality and moralism, causation, and the temptation towards skepticism) through ordinary language philosophy.
