The MUHC launches call for tenders: Professionals needed for $1.579B project
As part of its two-campus Redevelopment Project, the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Health Centre (MUHC) launched today the call for tender process to hire the master teams responsible for project management, architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as civil and structural engineering.
"Issuing this call for tenders is a major milestone for our project," declared MUHC Director General and CEO Dr. Arthur T. Porter. "We are looking forward to evaluating the bids and selecting the teams that will accompany us as we journey towards the completion of this important public project."
Note that on April 7, the Minister of Health and Social Services, Philippe Couillard, and the President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for Government Administration, Monique Jérôme-Forget, gave the official green light on the operational phase of the project. "Since that day, the teams have channelled their energy to finalize the call for tenders in a timely manner, which reflects, in my opinion, our motivation to see this project make tangible progress in accordance to the objectives set forth by the government, namely within budget and timeline," declared Clermont Gignac, Executive Director for the Modernization Projects of the CHUM, MUHC and CHU Sainte-Justine.
"We feel it is essential to have an integrated team of professionals, which fully grasps and respects the technical requirements," mentioned Yanaï Elbaz, Director of Planning and Implementation of the MUHC Redevelopment Project. "We therefore took the time needed to consult professional associations and orders and other experts beforehand and then to meticulously prepare the documents so as to end up with a truly effective partnership."
As maître d'œuvre of its project, the MUHC will direct its team of professionals according to its expertise. The team will determine the overall master plan, complete the drawings, plans and specifications, and determine systems performance and technology integration. Members of the Selection Committees are currently being chosen and contracts should be awarded before the end of summer 2006.
In parallel, the Agence des partenariats public-privé du Québec will prepare, in collaboration with the MUHC and the office of the Executive Director, a business case as to the potential of a public-private partnership for project components identified on April 7. The initial business case and recommendations will be submitted to the government in the fall of 2006.
The call for tender documents are available to companies registered for the SE@O electronic call for tender system at — #100284, #100285, #100290, #100298.
