平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine formalizes its agreement with the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montr茅al

Published: 9 June 2011

On June 8, 2011, the Faculty of Medicine and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at 平特五不中 presented a formal letter to the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montr茅al (IRCM), confirming in writing the long-standing arrangement for the supervision of the Faculty's graduate students at the IRCM. This opportunity will now be extended to postdoctoral education.

"We are pleased to announce the official acknowledgement of our agreement with 平特五不中 and its Faculty of Medicine," said Dr. Tarik M枚r枚y, the IRCM's President and Scientific Director. "It formally recognizes that students registered at 平特五不中, who are pursuing their graduate studies here under the supervision of an IRCM professor, have the same rights, responsibilities and eligibilities as other 平特五不中 graduate students."

Historically, the IRCM and 平特五不中 have engaged in an informal arrangement, by which IRCM researchers, holding adjunct professor status in 平特五不中's Faculty of Medicine, held certain privileges allowing them to supervise graduate students registered at the University. This agreement is now formalized and has been extended to the supervision of postdoctoral fellows.

"Great science transcends individual institutions and borders," added Richard I. Levin, 平特五不中's Vice-Principal of Health Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. "Our collaboration with the IRCM is another wonderful example of the many research networks that crisscross this city, and it is our great pleasure to expand it."

The official letter was signed yesterday at the IRCM. It was presented by Dr. Levin and Prof. Martin Kreiswirth, Associate Provost of Graduate Education and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at 平特五不中, and received by Drs. M枚r枚y and Christian F. Deschepper, Executive Director of Academic Affairs at the IRCM.
