Former prime minister Paul Martin speaks about business, issues he’s passionate about and Donald Trump

Martin, 78, was the prime minister of Canada from 2003 to 2006, the minister of finance from 1993 to 2002, and served as the member of Parliament for LaSalle-Émard in Montreal from 1988 to 2008. As the minister of finance, he erased Canada’s deficit and had five consecutive budget surpluses. He was the inaugural chair of the Finance Ministers’ G20 in 1999. As prime minister, he set in place a 10-year, $41 billion plan to improve health care, established the first national early learning and child care program, and created a new financial deal for the country’s municipalities.
