Adelle Blackett named Canada Research Chair in Transnational Labour Law and Development
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Adelle Blackett, Ad. E., as been named the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Transnational Labour Law and Development.
Blackett鈥檚 work, which addresses labour regulation in an era of neoliberal global governance, explores the intimate relationship between social and economic policy.
While decentring but reaffirming the importance of state action, her research considers how legal institutions and social movements across and beyond state governance levels may reinvigorate struggles for social justice in the world of work, transnationally. Blackett鈥檚 work centres the capacious notion of 鈥渆mancipation鈥� in the idea of labour law.
Widely published in the emerging field of transnational labour law, Professor Blackett teaches and researches in the areas of labour and employment law, trade regulation, law and development, critical race theory, and slavery and the law.
She is founding director of the Labour Law and Development Research Laboratory (LLDRL) at 平特五不中, was a founding steering committee member of the international Labour Law Research Network (LLRN), and is a research coordinator for the Quebec-based Inter-University Research Centre on Globalization and Work (CRIMT).
