CHARLOTTETOWN - Three members of the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Martlets were honoured as all-Canadians during the CIS women's soccer awards gala in Charlottetown, Wednesday night.

Ìý

Defender Katherine Green of Richmond Hill, Ont., was named to the first squad,Ìý while second-team selections included goalkeeper Victoria Muccilli, a native of Mississauga, Ont., and forward Alexandra Morin-Boucher of St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que. Including repeat winners, ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ has had 36 all-Canadians since they were implemented in 1987.

Ìý

This marks the second time that Green has merited all-Canadian status. AÌý 5-foot-11 defensive specialist, who struggled with injuries for most of the season, she earned conference all-star honours for the third straight year. The 20-year-old political science junior had no points in six games.

Ìý

Muccilli, a 5-foot-9 'keeper who turns 18 this week, started in 11 of ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ's 14 matches and posted an unblemished 5-0-4 record with four shutouts. The science freshman registered a 0.67 goals-against average and an .860 save percentage, allowing just six goals on 43 shots.

Ìý

Morin-Boucher, a 5-foot-6 striker, led the QUSL in goals and tied for second among CIS leaders with 11 in 14 games. The 21-year physical education junior finished fourth in the scoring race with 13 points and was selected four times by opposing coaches as ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ's player of the game.

Other CIS major award winners announced during the gala:

Fifth-year University of Montreal striker Véronique Laverdière was named the CIS player of the year. The Montreal native became the first-ever Carabin to claim the Chantal Navert memorial award as CIS MVP. Wilfrid Laurier sweeper Kelsey Tikka of Thunder Bay, Ont., was named rookie of the year; Memorial midfielder Samantha Hansford of St. John's received the Student-Athlete Community Service award and UPEI's Mike Redmond earned his second coach-of-the-year award, a prize presented by Coaches of Canada.

Ìý

Roche is the only returnee from last year's first team. Green was a member of the second CIS unit last season, while Huck was a second-teamer in 2008.
