The ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Alumni Association is pleased to invite you to the 11th Annual Leacock Luncheon with Guest of Honour and Speaker Nicola Cavendish.

Derek Drummond, BArch’62, F.R.A.I.C., William C. Macdonald Emeritus Professor of Architecture, ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ University

Award-winning actress Nicola Cavendish was born in Gloucestershire County, England, and raised in rural British Columbia. Growing up in such isolated settings may explain why she now spends all of her time with fictional people. Nevertheless it’s turned out for the best. Her work on stage and screen has earned her five Jessie Richardson Awards, two Dora Mavor Moore Awards, a Genie Award, a Gemini-nomination and the Montreal English Critics Circle Award for Best Actress.

Theatrical and literary greats such as Michel Tremblay, Carol Shields and the über-sexy Pierce Brosnan have also fallen under the spell of her acting talents. She even worked with Tennessee Williams in his last play "The Red Devil Battery Sign", developing an overwhelming urge to collect glass figurines and scream "Stella!" whenever she sees a streetcar.

Other career highlights include four seasons at the Shaw Festival, eight months on Broadway alongside the legendary Geraldine Page and Blythe Danner, and one day performing at a maximum security prison in Matsqui, B.C. The jury’s still out on where she faced the toughest crowd. She is currently writing a new play called "Under My Skin" about a 15-year-old girl confronting her mother’s death with the aid of her pet iguana Larry (Insert your own lizard joke here). Back on the stage in 2009, she will star in Montreal and Toronto productions of the one-woman dramatic comedy "Shirley Valentine".

Cost: $50 per person
