Media@ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ’s International Colloquium on The Participatory Condition
Media@ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ’s International Colloquium on TheÌýParticipatory Condition scrutinizes the very idea of participation in the digital age, from our face-to-face encounters with beings and technologies, to the experiences we share as users, publics and producers, in the flesh and online. Drawing from research in the fields of media studies, art and art history, social science, law, ethnography, philosophy, education, game studies, cognitive sciences, literature, design and curatorship, TheÌýParticipatory Condition critically probes the inherent participatory nature attributed to media, and unearths other forms of participation that might be obscured by excessive promises of digital utopia. Regrouping key contributors of interdisciplinary scholarship on participation and new media, the colloquium seeks to assess the role of new media in the development of a principleÌý—ÌýparticipationÌý—Ìýwhose expansion has become so large as to represent the very condition of our contemporaneity.
