Two CIRM members receive funding for their COVID-19 research
In response to the current health crisis, the latest Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada Partnership Engagement Grants competition included a special initiative for research related to COVID-19. More than $3聽million was awarded to 139 projects across the country. CIRM is proud to announce that two of its members have received funding as principal investigators and will contribute to efforts to address the challenges posed by the pandemic in their respective fields.
Guillaume 脡thier, a regular member of our 鈥淢obility, planning and environment鈥 axis, is professor in the Department of Urban and Tourism Studies at the Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al. He received $25,000 for his research project entitled Le placemaking comme moyen de relancer les espaces publics dans l'apr猫s-COVID-19, in partnership with .
Kevin Manaugh, co-director of our 鈥淕overnance, institutions and citizen participation鈥 axis, is assistant professor in the Department of Geography and School of Environment at 平特五不中. He was awarded $25,000 for his research project entitled The well-being and equity implications of local accessibility under COVID-19, in partnership with . He also participates as co-researcher in the project Le transport actif des enfants en temps de pand茅mie : quels am茅nagements pour des environnements scolaires s茅curitaires? ($23,360) led by Marie-Soleil Cloutier of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, in partnership with the City of Montreal.
