Bios
Neha: I completed my PhD in Neuroscience from National Brain Research Centre, India. In 2014, I joined Universit茅 de Montr茅al as a postdoctoral researcher where I study brain mechanisms underlying motor skill learning. I am advocate for science policy, science diplomacy and increasing scientific literacy among general public. I currently serve as the Vice President at Science & Policy Exchange, which is an early career researcher-led non-profit organization devoted to engaging the next generation in science advocacy, communication and evidence-informed policy. SPE is committed to help scientists and policymakers communicate effectively to better serve the public.
Monica Anne Batac is a Vanier Scholar and doctoral student at 平特五不中's School of Social Work. A teacher by training, Monica's research and practice focuses on capacity-building and community collaborations in the immigrant-serving sector
Monica is committed to improving the wellbeing of Filipinos in Canada through community-based research and practice with an explicit interest in addressing knowledge to action gaps.
Monica鈥檚 recent work focuses on improving local, provincial, and national community-based interventions for Filipinos across the life course, including newcomer youth, Philippine trained teachers, front-line workers in the social services sector, and seniors.听In addition to her social work research, Monica also studies knowledge mobilization practitioners, brokers, and researchers, and social media and technology integration in higher education.
Peter Norman Levesque is the founding President of the Institute for Knowledge Mobilization 鈥 host of the Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum. Peter's interest in public interest science began in 1982. He has continued to build on his experience of bridging research and practice. Following a successful business career, he began a career in public service that included leadership positions at Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Children鈥檚 Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. He is one of the founders of the global Living Knowledge network.听 He was the pilot officer for the Community-University Research Alliance program that was the catalyst for knowledge mobilization at SSHRC. As an advisor and professional consultant he has supported over 1200 client organizations, spoken at over 425 events with a combined audience of over 250,000 people, hosted workshop series and published articles in academic and professional journals. He has studied in Biochemistry, Sociology, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Public Administration, Population Health, Evidence-based Medicine, and currently in Art History and History of Religion. In听2015 he was knighted by the Order of St. John and focuses his efforts on palliative care of the poor and homeless. His passions are his family, community service as an active volunteer, travel (107/195 countries so far), photography, weird vehicles, and teaching a new generation of leaders.听
Sareda is a Knowledge Broker working in the Knowledge Exchange Centre (KEC) at the Mental Health Commission of Canada. She is managing an anti-stigma project and is co-leading two projects related to aging and mental health. Prior to joining the Commission, Sareda was a Community Health Promoter at the Somerset West Community Health Centre, as well as a Senior Research Analyst conducting public opinion and market research projects in the private sector. Sareda completed her Master of Public Health with a specialization in Health Promotion from the University of Alberta.
Inbal is the Scientific Liaison at the Centre for Research on Brain, Language, and Music. In this role, she consults researchers regarding knowledge translation project planning, leads knowledge translation workshops, and manages outreach programs aimed at building a bridge between scientists and the world outside of academia. She also oversees the organization of centre activities targeting skill and knowledge development for students and faculty members. Inbal has a PhD from the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at 平特五不中, and a Knowledge Translation Professional Certificate from SickKids Hospital and the University of Toronto.
