NeurophysiologyÌý(MEG) of Speech Auditory Processing in Aging
Ìý
WeÌýare looking for a creative, post-doctoral MEG specialist to work under our jointÌýsupervision (Etienne de Villers-Sidani & Sylvain Baillet)Ìýon a study of howÌýaging affects the neurophysiological mechanisms of speech processing. AÌýspecific focus will be on age-related changesÌýin the tonotopic auditoryÌýcortex and their implication on speech comprehension. We use a multimodal approach, with an emphasis onÌýMEG and advanced dataÌýanalytics, in the framework of predictive inference forÌýauditory perception (e.g., Morillon & Baillet,ÌýPNASÌý2017; Donhauser & Baillet, Neuron, in press).
TheÌýfellowship will be held at the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre, a leadingÌýresearch facility specializing in multi-modal human brainÌýimaging, including 3 & 7-TÌýMRI, PET, MEG, TMS and EEG. The BIC hosts about 150 staff members and studentsÌýwho specialize in humanÌýbrain imaging and neuroscience.
TheÌýMcConnell Brain Imaging Centre is located at the Montreal NeurologicalÌýInstitute (MNI) and Hospital, on the downtown campus ofÌýƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ, inÌýthe heart of Montreal – probably one of the coolest student cities worldwide.ÌýThe MNI is recognized as a world leader inÌýneuroimaging, neuroscience, and theÌýstudy of neurological diseases. Overall, this is an exciting opportunity toÌýadvance systems neuroscienceÌýand to benefit from a thriving research andÌýlearning environment.ÌýÌýÌý
InterestedÌýcandidates need a solid background in brain imaging (preferably MEG) andÌýgood analytical and scientific coding skillsÌý(Matlab or Python). Experience inÌýneurodegeneration, brain computational modeling and statistics are further assets.
Duration: One-year, renewable.
StartÌýDate: Position available immediately.
Qualifications: Team player; hard (analytical) and soft skills; minimum one journal article published as 1st author;
Application: E-mail CV, contacts of 2 referencesÌýand a one-page research statement to sylvain.baillet [at] mcgill.ca (Dr. Baillet).
